At Archway Veterinary Practice we provide referral services in ophthalmology and cardiology. Our ophthalmology referral service is run by Kim Jorgensen DVM CertVOphthal MRCVS, and the cardiology service is run by Caroline Balfour BVSc PgC (SACS) MRCVS.
Ophthalmology
Kim Jorgensen gained the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary ophthalmology in 1998. The ophthalmology referral service includes a full range of diagnostic tools including slit lamp biomicroscopy, indirect and direct ophthalmoscopy, tonometry, gonioscopy, streak retinoscopy and facilities for microsurgery. Kim has a special interest in vision and its implications for pet animal welfare. He is particularly interested in corneal surgery and reconstructive eyelid surgery.
Cardiology
Caroline Balfour gained a postgraduate certificate in small animal cardiology studies in 2017. Caroline is able to investigate heart murmurs and treat a wide range of heart problems in small animals using a high quality Doppler ultrasound scanning machine. Digital X-rays, ECG, blood testing for cardiac biomarkers and blood pressure monitoring is also available.
